It is so encouraging to revisit a church and see echos of what God did before, and is still doing. This gentleman has been wearing the string on his wrist for over a year as a daily reminder of his need for God.

And then, God…

We’ve often heard that hindsight is 20/20, meaning all the ins and outs and ups and downs of life make more sense once you can look back on them as a whole. While we wouldn’t necessarily disagree with that, we would like to say instead that hindsight for believers is really just a list of “and then, God…” moments that beautifully depict God’s protection, provision, and absolute delight in blessing those who trust in Him.

We’ve had so many of those moments in the last two months and are excited to share them with you.

First, the car broke down. And when we say broke down, we mean stopped-dead-in-the-driveway, been-in-three-different-shops, several-things-“fixed”-and-it’s-still-messed-up, six-thousand-dollars-of-repairs broke down. Lori had driven it to Illinois in September to help Red Team and noticed some funny noises happening about 10 minutes away from home, and then it literally died as she parked in the driveway. That started a whole mess of repairs and costs that were well on their way to turning Lori’s hair grey (not that you would notice)…

And then, God used a variety of people to show us His provision by having the entire six thousand paid for. The coolest part of that for us is that $1,800 of it was raised by our team. We were so shocked and humbled and relieved!

Meanwhile, Cameron had been saving up for a car for over a year so that he could get back and forth to a job he got for during Christmas break (another God story in and of itself). It was taking a little longer than he had hoped because God had led him to give out of his car fund this summer, and then again a couple of weeks ago…

And then, God prompted a host dad in Louisiana to hand Cameron the keys to a 2015 Nissan Altima a week later. Again, the whole family was in awe of God’s sovereignty and provision.

Because Cameron now had a car, the next step was to add him to our insurance. What a can of worms we opened with that! Turns out, goofs on the company’s end meant we had been unknowingly uninsured since July. Between having to restart insurance and adding a young driver, our new payment ended up being thousands more than we had been used to…

And then, God led a team member, who had also been experiencing some “and then, God” moments recently, to hand Cameron a check for the exact amount the extra insurance was going to cost, because that was the exact amount of extra that team member had been given.

Wow. We were floored.

What a good, loving, gracious, and kind Father we have!
