Spring has Sprung

Hello again, friends. It’s springtime in Michigan which, for us, means a few things:

  1. Weather that can’t make up its mind – cold and rainy one day, 70’s and sunny the next.
  2. Mushroom season! If you’ve had morels fried in butter you know what I’m talking about. In fact, as soon as I finish writing this, I’m going hunting!
  3. The constant feeling that there is no way we’re going to be ready for Family Camp again this year

Of course, it always feels that way and yet, each year, God has a way of bringing things together.  For instance, last week we had a workday at camp with several of our staff and families and were able to knock out a lot of projects. While there is still a lot to do before camp starts, we are excited about the retreats we’ve already had and the upcoming summer of serving families and staff.

Below you’ll see a video of a testimony from one of our recent church events, as well some testimonies from two of our spring camp retreats.  Thank you for your prayers and support—with them you are impacting lives like these and enabling our family to be a part of all that God is doing here.

Thank you for all you do for us to have a quiet, reflective time with the Lord. I’ve felt the love of the Lord and conviction here at camp. The teaching spurred on reminders of walking in confidence of the Lord’s love over walking in shame and hiding

This weekend has brought new focus and deeper understanding about being connected in all my relationships – family, friends but especially with God. He has told me I am his daughter and that I am loved and wants that deeper connection with him. Thank you!

I need to let God love me, and not live my life “Jesus plus, Jesus plus” I can not earn God’s love, though in my walk I always think His love is transactional based. If I do these things God will love me more, and when I don’t do these things God will love me less. His Love and Grace are free gifts that I choose to accept, and no matter what I do, He will love me regardless; that doesn’t mean not worrying about sinning, but it means even when I do sin, His love for me is still outstanding and constant.

I came here tired, weary, and exhausted. I was able to fully relax and worship the Lord like I haven’t been able to do in awhile. I now feel refreshed and excited to go home to see my wife and family. I am so very grateful to Life Action who has been a beacon of hope and encouragement to me the past at least 15 years. Thank you again to all staff that I really truly appreciate what y’all have done for myself and all these men over the years. Always holding true to preaching God’s word and steering men to Christ.

Last but not least….Meet our newest grandchild, James Gordon Herdklotz. He is named after Jimmy and we couldn’t be more excited to have him here. Needless to say, he gets LOTS of attention!

  1. I can’t believe yall have grandchildren now!! Seems like just yesterday I was at Austins’s 8th birthday party.

Love reading your newsletters and seeing what God is still doing through LA and family camp.
